Panem, it rose from the ashes of a destroyed world. A small flicker of life that expanded to help one another: 13 Districts, each tasked with helping run part of the whole; everyone had a place; people moved freely; and life was good. It wasn't perfect, no country is, but Panem thrived like a well-oiled machine.

Until the rebellion started.

The dark days were whispered in history classes and told as bedtime stories to the young to make sure they never repeat the past mistakes of their ancestors. However, the Capitol tightened its grasp uniquely.

The Hunger Games.

Designed to never let the Districts forget the pain they caused, 120 years after the Dark Days Treaty was signed, the games have evolved into a culture of their own. Betting, fashions, movies, shows, everyone knows the Games. Those in the Districts fear it, the Capitol waits with anticipation for every reveal, every stab in the back, and every tribute death.

The Capitol has made sure the games are all about stories for their entertainment. Perhaps you will play into their hands and write a tribute that entertains them all. Maybe you will rebel, quietly against the games, or loudly in the arena. If the Capitol expects a story, well, why don't you come give them one?

In the wake of an apocalypse, Panem emerged, ruled by the Capitol in control of thirteen districts. The Dark Days, marked by a rebellious uprising from the districts, led to the brutal Hunger Games – a deadly annual pageant that served as a reminder of war and kept the districts in check. The Capitol’s dominance persisted for 170 years until a new rebellion emerged, creating a secret haven called Soteria.

The Capitol quelled the uprising, but many rebels escaped in the turmoil. District Thirteen, having led the latest uprising received the brunt of the punishment as families and friends were torn apart and redistributed throughout the nation. To further crush the spirits of district citizens, the Capitol declared the Hunger Games a bi-annual affair, now occurring in both the spring and the fall.

Despite everything, the resistance persists. Tensions remain high across Panem, and while Soteria remains blanketed in obscurity, whispers of the name creep through the shadows among the hopeful and the bitter alike. Will freedom from the tight grip of the Capitol allow the Soterians to find a way to end this conflict once and for all? Will the Capitol and its forces find and eliminate their enemies? Only time will tell as the citizens of Panem seek their place between Silence and Salvation.
