The year is 1885.

The Gilded Age is a cornucopia filled with nectar and ambrosia for the dauntless who seize the day. Boston revels in the prosperity found in the shine of its renaissance. Engines roar, carriages roll and constructions rise faster than nature – everyone speaks of the industrial revolution conquering the New World frontier.

But beneath the brilliance, the city is strained with the waves of immigrants seeking a better life. The wealth inequality grows as the old and new upper class fight for influence who cling on tradition and progress respectively. This facade of security and order is thin – if one looks closely.

Gaslight flickers and the harbor whispers of eldritch horrors beneath the sea. The newspapers refuse to print on secret societies and occult rituals, and policemen do not investigate the secrets hidden in the alleys. Parallel to the daylight society, something else congregates after dusk, referred to as The Shade.
