The world of Velora has known war and hardship as long as it has known life. For years, magic users known as veilborn were actively hunted until the King found use for the veilborn, who required them all by law to enlist in the military and serve Velora for life. Velora is a war-torn world, where almost eighty percent of the world has been engulfed in pure darkness and shadow, a curse killing crops and releasing strange, umbral shadow creatures upon the world. No one quite knows where the shroud came from or what caused the Shrouding itself, though everyone lives in fear of this darkness.
