While the Beaufort is a central location, everyone has lives outside of work - New York is a big place with endless stories to tell.

Spirits of the Earth is an original high fantasy sandbox RP set in an ever-growing world, focusing primarily on the diverse and magical continents of Le'raana, a land of old magic and conflict that is inhabited predominantly by humans, and newly discovered Panzhong, a land dominated by the Shijie-ren and other non-humans. It's a massive world, but don't worry; with our friendly members and welcoming community, it's impossible to get lost.

Since its creation on December 13, 2000, SotE has always been a community for writers, readers, artists, and anyone who just wants to have fun and lose themselves in a fantasy world for a while. Industrialisation pushed magical folk out of their homes across the world as forests were razed and cities built while technology marched on. The mundane and magical drifted ever further apart over generations, leading us to where we are now. Magic is scarce or seems it, even in places where magic users were once the vast majority in the population. Dissatisfied with their lot, many magical communities wish to restore their rightful place above the mundane. Others simply want to live in peace, following the new way of life as they always have. After fae went public to the world in the 1980s, the world changed. Government agencies were formed to keep everything under control. Anti-fae groups sprung up in the controversy. Chaos hit fast and hard, but eventually a steady peace came about. That peace was broken again in the early 2000s, when werewolves were outed. Agencies expanded, hate groups grew, and new pro-non-human groups fought tooth and nail to show that the things that went bump in the night were just like you and me, not something to be feared.

That, of course, didn't account for the witches, wizards, walkers, druids, vampires, and NON-public fae still roaming around right under everyone else's noses.

With quarterly events, diverse subplots, and a tri-city area as your playground, there's never a dull moment in this slice-of-life RP. For centuries, the Hollow Realm has been caught in a ceaseless war. It began with the fae who wished to enslave humankind, as the fae saw the humans as weak and unfit to be anything but lesser. However, many would not agree and chose to rebel and fight back. War broke out between the courts and those who wished to fight back against the tyranny of the queen and her crusade to rule all of the Hollow Realm and enslave the lesser species of the realm.

The queen's forces forced dragons to fight for them. They formed powerful bonds and fought ruthlessly in the skies and on the ground, until the dragons, too, rebelled. Many of the dragons fled with those who rebelled, spreading far and wide across Astralis, forging alliances with fae and human alike as they found their place in the war. Many saw the darkness to come, and the dragons did what they could to protect the Hollow Realm.

The queen would never stop until she held the world in her hand, until she was the most powerful ruler in the Hollow Realms. The war was bloody, and many lives were lost on both sides. Eventually, it came to a draw as the queen retreated Under the Mountain, and the fae gave part of their land to the humans, allowing a tenuous pact of peace to form between both kingdoms. The humans took Valamir, and with the help of those fae who were willing, they began to rebuild.
